Downtown Marion, Inc. welcomed more than 50 volunteers for its 1st Annual Spring Downtown Cleanup, creating a visible impact across the district and setting the tone for the season ahead.

Volunteers spent the morning cleaning sidewalks, alleys, and public spaces throughout downtown, contributing time, energy, and a shared sense of pride in the community. Their efforts helped refresh the area and create a more welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and local businesses.
In total, the cleanup effort generated 120 volunteer hours. Based on the national estimated value of volunteer time at $36.18 per hour, that represents an in-kind contribution of $4,354.87 invested directly back into downtown Marion.
A Community Effort
Events like this are driven by participation, and this year’s turnout demonstrated strong community support. Volunteers of all ages came together with a common goal—taking care of downtown and contributing to its continued growth.
The impact extended beyond the physical cleanup. It reinforced the idea that maintaining and improving downtown is a shared responsibility, and that small contributions, when combined, can create meaningful results.
Local Support

A special thank you goes to Alluvial Tax & Planning for supporting volunteers by providing drinks following the cleanup. Participants were able to stop by Sip Easy Coffee Bar or The Remnant Tea & Coffee as a small way to recognize their efforts and time.
Looking Ahead

The success of the Spring Downtown Cleanup highlights what can be accomplished when the community shows up and works together. As downtown continues to grow and evolve, efforts like this help maintain the environment that supports that progress.
Downtown Marion, Inc. extends its appreciation to everyone who participated and helped make the event a success.
