Friday, September 18

4:30 PM – Autumn Flight Night and Music on the Mez with Andrew – The Remnant – 187 W. Center St., Marion – The Remnant welcomes fall with a Pumpkin & Spice Flight Night featuring seasonal beverages, optional charcuterie and live music on the mezzanine. Flight Night begins at 4:30 p.m., with live music by Andrew beginning at 6 p.m. Flights are $12, charcuterie is $10, or both are available for $20. No reservations are required while supplies last.

6:30 PM – Plants & Pinot – Blend of Seven Winery – 146 W. Center St., Marion – Plants & Pinot PLINGO returns to Blend of Seven Winery for an evening of wine, laughter and houseplants. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with games beginning no later than 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include 10 rounds of PLINGO, 10-inch houseplants awarded throughout the night, a special charity round and a chance to spend the evening with fellow plant lovers.

7:00 PM – Live Music with Quenten Veach – Shovel City Drinkery – 181 N. Main St., Marion – Singer-songwriter Quenten Veach returns to Shovel City Drinkery for an evening of live music. Veach performs a mix of folk, Americana, rock, ’90s, alternative and more. Steak-N-It Food Truck will be serving birria tacos and other favorites out front from 5 to 9 p.m. The event is free to attend.

Saturday, September 19

8:00 AM – Birchouse Workshop & Birchouse Education Open House – Marion Area Chamber of Commerce – 267 W. Center St., Marion – Birchouse Workshop and Birchouse Education host a free, family-friendly open house from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event features an interactive mini museum, historical warriors, hands-on activities, historic games and opportunities to hold a sword, wear a helmet and help a knight prepare for battle. Visitors can also learn about shields, historical education, reenactment and HEMA.

9:30 AM – Walk to Raise Awareness for Suicide Prevention – Downtown Marion – 156 N. Main St., Marion – The Marion County Suicide Prevention Coalition hosts a community walk to raise awareness for suicide prevention and show support for those affected by suicide. Registration runs from 9:30 to 10 a.m., with the walk taking place from 10 to 11 a.m. The walk begins and ends at 156 N. Main St., in the parking lot north of the building next to the railroad tracks. Registration is $20.

10:00 AM – Pack Walk with Pitter Patter Paws – Founders Park – NE corner of Main and Church streets, Marion – Pitter Patter Paws hosts a guided downtown pack walk beginning at Founders Park. The walk gives people and pups a chance to explore downtown Marion, learn about dog-friendly local businesses and enjoy the community together.

10:00 AM – BRUNCH, PLEASE! A Mimosa-Fueled Throwback Sing-Along – Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen – 320 W. Center St., Marion – The sing-along brunch returns to Bucci’s with mimosas, food, throwback songs and a room full of voices belting out the songs people know by heart. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

11:00 AM – Bugs for Breakfast – Props & Pots – 132 S. State St., Marion – Props & Pots hosts Bugs for Breakfast, a brunch and class focused on carnivorous plants. Expert Todd Issler will lead participants through Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, sundews and other carnivorous plants, including how to care for them at home. Each $30 ticket includes a full brunch, a take-home carnivorous plant, soil for potting and a live educational class.

12:00 PM – 3rd Annual Cookie Walk in Downtown Marion – Busby Park – 151 W. Center St., Marion – Downtown Marion’s Cookie Walk returns from noon to 4 p.m. Participants can explore downtown, visit local businesses and sample cookies along the way. Tickets are $20 each and are available online or in person on the day of the event until 2 p.m.

2:00 PM – Disney’s Moana Sing-a-Long – Marion Palace Theatre – 276 W. Center St., Marion – The Marion Palace Theatre hosts a family-friendly sing-a-long screening of Disney’s Moana at 2 p.m. Tickets are $3 for Palace members, $5 for non-members and free for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door beginning 45 minutes before showtime, and concessions including popcorn, candy, soda and water will be available for purchase. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

5:00 PM – First Annual Oktoberfest – Emanuel Lutheran Church – 241 S. Prospect St., Marion – Emanuel Lutheran Church hosts its first annual Oktoberfest from 5 to 7 p.m. The gathering features German-inspired food and beverages while supporting the church’s mission of welcoming and caring for the community. Tickets are $20, drink tickets are $6, and commemorative steins are $50.

6:00 PM – Sip & Craft: Fall Ceramic Painting – Blend of Seven Winery – 146 W. Center St., Marion – Amanda from Mimi’s Art Hollow leads a fall ceramic painting event at Blend of Seven Winery. Participants can choose from five ceramic pieces and spend the evening painting with all materials and instructions provided. Projects will be painted at Blend of Seven Winery and later picked up at Mimi’s Art Hollow after glazing. Cost is $28 per person, with a glass of wine available for an additional $7.

Sunday, September 20

10:00 AM – BRUNCH, PLEASE! A Mimosa-Fueled Throwback Sing-Along – Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen – 320 W. Center St., Marion – Bucci’s keeps the weekend going with another round of BRUNCH, PLEASE! from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event combines brunch, mimosas and throwback sing-along energy in downtown Marion.

12:00 PM – Ancestral Connections: Creating Meaningful Spaces for Remembrance – Bohemian Besoms – 218 E. Center St., Marion – Bohemian Besoms hosts a hands-on workshop from noon to 2 p.m. focused on remembrance, reflection and connection. Participants will create a personalized ancestral connection kit and explore simple, accessible ways to honor family, mentors, loved ones and those who have shaped their lives. The workshop includes materials, take-home guides and the completed kit.

2:00 PM – Boards & Blooms – Props & Pots – 132 S. State St., Marion – Props & Pots hosts Boards & Blooms from 2 to 4 p.m. Each guest receives a fence board and painting supplies to create a personalized decorative piece, then adds a floral touch with a pre-arranged mini bouquet of fresh blooms wrapped in kraft paper and tied with a white ribbon. Tickets are $20.

2:30 PM – Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration – Founders Park – NE corner of Main and Church streets, Marion – Founders Park hosts a free Hispanic Heritage Month celebration beginning at 2:30 p.m. The event features folk dances, traditional foods, music and cultural activities.

3:00 PM – Shovel City Drinkery 6th Anniversary Spectacular – Shovel City Drinkery – 181 N. Main St., Marion – Shovel City Drinkery celebrates six years with live music, food and drink specials. Tacomania Food Truck will be serving from noon to 8 p.m., and John Mullins will perform live from 3 to 6 p.m. The event is free to attend, with $5 craft drafts and $6 Stagg pours available during the celebration.

6:00 PM – Colton Dixon in Concert – Marion Palace Theatre – 276 W. Center St., Marion – Colton Dixon performs live at the Marion Palace Theatre at 6 p.m. Tickets are listed at $20, $30 and $35. Dixon brings a night of contemporary Christian music to the Palace stage.
