DOWNTOWN MARION — Beat the heat and humidity this weekend! The last weekend of July brings live music, brunch, movies, creative nights, games and night-out options across downtown. From patio music at Shovel City Drinkery and throwback brunch at Bucci’s to Cool Hand Luke at the Palace, Sips & Brims at Finding Center and Potty Mouth Pottery at Mimi’s Art Hollow, here’s what’s happening downtown Friday, July 24, through Sunday, July 26.



Friday, July 24


6:30 PM – Plants & Pinot PLINGO at Blend of Seven Winery — SOLD OUT – Blend of Seven Winery – 146 W. Center St., Marion – PLINGO brings plant prizes, drinks and a smaller, high-energy night to Blend of Seven Winery. This event is sold out.


7:00 PM – Live Music with Pirogue and Sonic Canvas at Shovel City Drinkery – Shovel City Drinkery – 181 N. Main St., Marion – Two bands in one night, with Pirogue bringing blues, rock and jam-band covers and Sonic Canvas adding its mix of rock, violin, piano and layered musicianship.


Saturday, July 25


10:00 AM – BRUNCH, PLEASE! A Mimosa-Fueled Throwback Sing-Along – Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen – 320 W. Center St., Marion – A throwback sing-along brunch with mimosas, food, and a room full of voices belting out the songs that defined generations. Tickets range from $30.03–$321.75.


2:00 PM – Movie Weekend featuring Cool Hand Luke – Marion Palace Theatre – 276 W. Center St., Marion – The Palace screens Cool Hand Luke as part of its movie weekend, with doors opening at 1:15 p.m. and the film beginning at 2 p.m. Free admission.


6:00 PM – Sips & Brims – Finding Center – 171 E. Center St., Marion – An evening of hat decorating in either boho or western style, with guided decorating, a choice of hat, and Happy Hour-style refreshments. Tickets are $50.


7:30 PM – Queen of Hearts – Kin & Kilt – 130 S. Prospect St., Marion – Kin & Kilt’s weekly Queen of Hearts drawing continues Saturday night. Grab your tickets, try your luck, and see if the crown is hiding on your card.


8:00 PM – Potty Mouth Pottery – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – A 21-and-older pottery class where guests can choose a pottery piece and add their own saying or design. BYOB. Cost starts at $5, with final price depending on the piece selected.
