DOWNTOWN MARION — October starts with a full weekend downtown. From Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4, the schedule includes live music, Disney’s Aladdin Jr., art and craft events, karaoke, BRUNCH, PLEASE!, The Witches Gala and more.
Here’s what’s happening in Downtown Marion this weekend.

Friday, October 2
5:00 PM – Cozy Community Craft Night – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Bring a project and spend the evening crafting with friends using yarn, fabric, paint or other creative materials. Snacks are provided, and the event is free.
7:00 PM – Disney’s Aladdin Jr. – Marion Palace Theatre – 276 W. Center St., Marion – Disney’s Aladdin Jr. opens its weekend run at the Palace. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger.
7:00 PM – Live Blues with Mojo Blues Band – Shovel City Drinkery – 181 N. Main St., Marion – Mojo Blues Band brings four veteran musicians to Shovel City for an evening of live blues. Hibachi Hut will serve food outside from 5–9 p.m.
7:00 PM – 4th Wing/ACOTAR Book Paint Party – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – A book-themed paint party inspired by Fourth Wing, A Court of Thorns and Roses and other fantasy worlds. Participants can choose from book-themed pottery. Reservations start at $10 and include snacks and giveaways.
Saturday, October 3
9:30 AM – Saturday Storytime & Little Art Explorers Club – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Miss Amanda and the Little Art Explorers Club welcome young participants for storytime and creative exploration.
10:00 AM – Fall Paint with Patty – The Remnant – 187 W. Center St., Marion – Paint an antique hand pump during this fall-themed class. The $35 registration includes materials and a 16-ounce Remnant drink of choice. Recommended for ages 18 and older.
10:00 AM – BRUNCH, PLEASE! – Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen – 320 W. Center St., Marion – The mimosa-fueled throwback sing-along returns with brunch, music and a room full of guests singing along to songs spanning generations.
12:00 PM – Kinusaiga (Quilt Painting) – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Explore the Japanese art form of Kinusaiga by tucking small pieces of fabric into carved grooves to create a detailed picture. Designs include a ghost, bat or pumpkin. Cost starts at $20.
4:00 PM – The Witches Gala – Downtown Marion – A Halloween celebration centered on women, community and a little witchy fun. The event begins with The Witches Walk at 4 p.m., with participants asked to come dressed in witchy attire. The evening includes vendors, food and treats, nonalcoholic drinks, music, dancing and a best-dressed witch contest. The event is family-friendly and open to everyone.
7:00 PM – Disney’s Aladdin Jr. – Marion Palace Theatre – 276 W. Center St., Marion – The Palace presents the second evening performance of Disney’s Aladdin Jr.
8:00 PM – Karaoke Night – Fable Bar & Co. – 119 W. Huber St., Marion – Karaoke returns for the first Saturday of the month from 8–11 p.m. Admission is free, and performers receive a complimentary seasonal shot.
8:00 PM – Potty Mouth Pottery – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – This 21-and-older BYOB pottery night runs from 8–10 p.m.
Sunday, October 4

12:00 PM – Mimi’s Art Hollow 1st Birthday Bash – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Mimi’s celebrates its first birthday with an afternoon of creative activities from noon–4 p.m.
1:00 PM – Sunday Funday with Jason Allwood – Shovel City Drinkery – 181 N. Main St., Marion – Jason Allwood performs a mix of rock and blues from 1–4 p.m. Lili’s Mexican Kitchen will serve food outside from 12:30–4:30 p.m.
2:00 PM – Disney’s Aladdin Jr. – Marion Palace Theatre – 276 W. Center St., Marion – The weekend run of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. closes with a Sunday afternoon performance at 2 p.m.
