DOWNTOWN MARION — Downtown Marion closes out August with plants, pinot, live music, karaoke, art, pottery, brunch, games and a Sunday patio party. Here’s what’s happening downtown from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, August 30.

Friday, August 28
6:30 PM – Plants & Pinot – Blend of Seven Winery – 146 W. Center St., Marion – Plants & Pinot PLINGO returns with Props & Pots for an evening of wine, laughter and houseplants. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with games beginning no later than 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include 10 rounds of PLINGO, 10-inch houseplants awarded throughout the night and a special charity round supporting a local nonprofit.

7:00 PM – Live Music with Dr. Ike – Shovel City Drinkery – 181 N. Main St., Marion – Dr. Ike performs from 7 to 10 p.m., bringing more than 30 years of performing experience and a crowd-pleasing mix of classics from artists including Joe Cocker, Johnny Cash, AC/DC, Journey and more. Charm Thai on the Wheels will be serving from 5 to 9 p.m.
7:00 PM – DIY Karaoke and Paint – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Mimi’s Art Hollow pairs karaoke with painting for a Friday night art event from 7 to 9 p.m.
7:00 PM – Emo Karaoke/Sing-Along with DJ KOV – Kin & Kilt – 130 S. Prospect St., Marion – Kin & Kilt hosts a themed karaoke night with DJ KOV for elder emos, punk rockers and anyone ready to sing along. The mic is open at 7 p.m., with free black jelly bracelets for anyone who takes the stage, while supplies last.
Saturday, August 29
9:30 AM – Storytime with Ms. Amanda and Little Art Explorers Club – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Mimi’s Art Hollow hosts its Saturday morning Storytime with Ms. Amanda and Little Art Explorers Club from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
10:00 AM – BRUNCH, PLEASE! A Mimosa-Fueled Throwback Sing-Along – Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen – 320 W. Center St., Marion – The sing-along brunch returns with mimosas, food, throwback songs and a room full of voices belting out the songs people know by heart.

4:00 PM – Clay Hand Building – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Mimi’s Art Hollow hosts Clay Hand Building from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is $10.
7:30 PM – Queen of Hearts – Kin & Kilt – 130 S. Prospect St., Marion – Kin & Kilt’s weekly Queen of Hearts drawing continues Saturday night. Grab your tickets, try your luck and see if the crown is hiding on your card.

8:00 PM – Live Music with Nick Dyer and Matt Keller – Someplace Else Bar – 170 S. Main St., Marion – Nick Dyer and Matt Keller bring live music to Someplace Else Bar from 8 to 11 p.m., with old and new country mixed with a dash of classic rock and roll.

8:00 PM – Potty Mouth Pottery – Mimi’s Art Hollow – 287 W. Center St., Marion – Mimi’s Art Hollow hosts its 21-and-older BYOB Potty Mouth Pottery night from 8 to 10 p.m.

Sunday, August 30
10:00 AM – BRUNCH, PLEASE! A Mimosa-Fueled Throwback Sing-Along – Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen – 320 W. Center St., Marion – Bucci’s keeps the weekend going with another round of its sing-along brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
1:00 PM – Sunday Funday Patio Party with Kismet Notes – Shovel City Drinkery – 181 N. Main St., Marion – Kismet Notes performs yacht rock favorites on the patio from 1 to 4 p.m., including hits from Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan, Toto, Ambrosia, Michael McDonald, the Doobie Brothers and more. Midwest Breakfast Barn will be serving brunch favorites from noon to 5 p.m., and Sunday happy hour features $5 craft drafts all day.
