The Downtown Marion Christmas Parade will step off at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 1, 2018. We would love to have your participation by walking, marching or riding on a float designed and created by you. This is your opportunity to help continue a lost tradition in our community; thank your customers; show your community pride and create memories for the children of Marion.
“Get on Board the Marion Express Christmas Parade” is the theme of this year’s parade and we are asking that all entries reflect this theme. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on the Downtown Marion float at the close of the parade, so we ask that you refrain from having live versions on your float.
We need to receive all completed entries by November 19, 2018 to determine parade length and line up. You will be notified of your position in the parade and will be sent a map of the route the week of November 27. All units and groups will be assigned to a division based on your entry theme.
For everyone’s safety and litter control, parade participants are prohibited from throwing anything during the parade. Items such as candy canes or other candy that are individually wrapped may be distributed along the parade route if passed out by walkers at the side of the street. Any unit containing horses or animals must clean up the staging area before entering the parade and must also clean up behind the animals along the parade route. Music with each entry is encouraged but must be controlled so as not to interfere with other units.
