A Taste of Marion gives attendees the opportunity to have a “taste” of what Marion’s best food establishments have to offer. Many restaurants and caterers from Marion and surrounding counties come together to offer samples of their best entrées and desserts. Three judges choose the winners of Marion’s Best Entrée and Marion’s Best Dessert, while you cast your vote for Marion’s Choice! Tickets are $25 for ten unique tastes of Marion’s best bites. A Taste of Marion will take place at the Historic Palace Theatre’s May Pavilion, 276 West Center Street.
The 2014/2015 Leadership Marion! Class sponsored by the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce created A Taste of Marion as their class project. Downtown Marion, Inc. has worked with members of the original class to continue A Taste of Marion as a yearly beautification fundraiser. The proceeds from the event provide a win-win situation for our community.
- The proceeds from 2015 were used to purchase additional plants, flowers and tools for the downtown street planters
- The 10 US flags along with 20 poles and bracket mounting systems, that will fly from Memorial Day until after the Popcorn Festival every year, were also a result of A Taste of Marion 2015
- Downtown Marion, Inc. will use all proceeds from this year’s event to help with winter beautification, specifically Christmas Décor
- Beautification to the downtown streetscape will be a benefit to community members and out of town guests
