The Downtown Marion, Inc., board of directors is excited to announce that Clarissa Myers will be joining the team on January 23 as Downtown Manager.
Clarissa was born and raised in Bucyrus and after high school pursued education and training as a cosmetologist at the State Beauty Academy located in Downtown Marion. She graduated with a Managing Cosmetologist License and began her career at Shapers Salon and then Visible Changes.
To pursue this education option, Clarissa made the decision to move to Marion rather than commute as she had found employment in Marion as well. She described Bucyrus in this manner “Where the bratwurst is always good, everyone knows your name and small business in dominant.” Clarissa shared with us that it was her plan to finish her schooling and then move back to Bucyrus, but in her words “My bond with Marion grew and I began to see the life I had planned and wished to someday share with my family was actually right here in Marion. I found Marion to be similar to the small town of my childhood with big city opportunities. Familiar faces provide the comfort of home, small businesses are constantly growing, and big businesses surround and help support the community in many ways.”
Clarissa and Dan married in the summer of 2016 and together they parent Layne, who is in fourth grade and LOVES sports. Dan owns a construction and remodeling business called Myers Renovations and has been in business in Marion for nearly 13 years. She told us that she loved Dan’s attitude about his business in that “no job is too small, every project is important, whether it is as simple as hanging a new door or a whole new roof, every client matters.”
She shared that as a parent Marion provides the ideal environment for raising children. There are many opportunities for children to be active and be part of programs that improve their wellbeing and offer opportunities for developing lasting friendships. Layne likes football, basketball and baseball and participates in these activities through his school, church and the YMCA. Clarissa and Dan are also active members of The Club and Blast Fitness and enjoy spending time with the family dog, Braxton.
Clarissa is also involved in Marion General Hospital TWIG II, providing her the opportunity to give back to the community. Currently she is serving as Vice President of this volunteer group and is looking forward to many more successful years as a TWIG member.
When we asked Clarissa what she would like to see happen in Downtown Marion she said “I would love for the future of Downtown Marion to include more experiences for our youth.” She continued “I want to be part of progress that has already begun and I want to encourage folks to build their own memories and create their own history in Downtown Marion. Let’s plant the seed and watch it grow for our generation and generations to come.” We are looking forward to working with Clarissa and are confident that her positive outlook and enthusiastic spirit will continue to spark interest and support for our mission “Working together to make Downtown the vibrant heart of our community”.
